skin rashMy son is 14 and has had a strange, irritating rash for about a year. It comes and goes with no clue what triggers it. His skin gets blotchy like an allergic reaction then when he scratches (which he can't help but do) the skin welts up. It seems to be worst when it is cold outside. I have taken him to the doctors, but they haven't really solved the problem. Nothing helps it go away, either.
Help!
Re: skin rashHi. I know it has been a couple months since you posted your question but I thought I would reply anyways. My daughter gets a similar rash as well. Its not to often but when she gets an outbreak, the more she itches the longer it lasts. Her doctor says its eczema. She has had it since she was about 6 months old. They said she will more than likely battle this all her life. I can get it cleared up in about 2 days if I put Coritzone cream on it and put some clothes on her that stops her from getting her fingernails at it. The cream stops her from wanting to itch which helps it go away faster. I dont know if this will help you. I would think that the doctors you have taken your son to would have recognized eczema quickly but I just thought I would share this. I hope he gets better if he hasnt already.
Re: skin rashThanks for telling me about your daughter. I finally took my son to an allergy specialist and he diagnosed my son with a high sensitivity to mold. There is mold in food like sourdough bread, cottage cheese and some other things that he used to like to eat. The doctor also put him on Zyrtec, which works great to stop the flareup and the itch right away. He is getting less outbreaks and the doctor thinks he will outgrow this someday. I researched more about diet related effects and found the Blood Type Diet to be very sensible. Eating foods that are recommended for each persons individual blood type has worked wonders for me, and I have seen a very positive change in my Husband and Son's health. Also, I have added more enzyme supplements along with our daily supplements and noticed how much better our systems are functioning. I wish doctors new more about nutrition and would recommend natural remedies over subscribing random medications. Common sense is all it takes.
Thanks for your imput, Kim
Re: skin rashI was very interested to read your post. My son has been getting a low grade fever and a rash since January. He breaks out every night in little white bumps that itch and get red and bigger as he scratches. He gets a 100.5 - 100.6 temp. every afternoon. In the beginning the rash was just at night, but now it is at just random times during the day. We give him Zertec every night, but it doesn't seem to help. We have taken him to an infectious disease doctor and all of his blood work looks perfect. I am thinking an allergist should be next. Any advice???
Re: skin rashThanks for the info. He hasn't gotten rid of it, but after taking him to an allergist we determined he was highly sensitive to mold. Food, dust and moist areas have mold, so we try to keep him away from those things and it seems to work. He has a break out instantly if he eats sourdough bread or cottage cheese. Zyrtec works great if he feels an attack coming on. Cortizone doesn't work as good as the Zyrtec, but calms the itch a little so he doesn't scratch himself raw. I hope he will grow out of this. The doctors don't have a definite answer.
