Prognosis

Food allergies often can be successfully managed. In some cases, food allergies that develop in young children (e.g., milk allergy, egg allergy) are outgrown.

However, each year in the United States more than 150 people die as a result of an allergic reaction to food. Most of these deaths are related to peanut allergies.
